Vancouver police recovered more than $10,000 in jewelry and luxury items believed stolen during a Vancouver open house after a late-night traffic stop on Oct. 3. Two men were released and no charges had been approved as of the police update.

Vancouver police have recovered more than $10,000 in jewelry and luxury items believed stolen during a real estate open house, after officers stopped a rental SUV on the night of Saturday, Oct. 3.
Officers were watching a residence known to police when they saw the rental Chevrolet SUV leave at about 9:25 p.m. and pulled it over, the Vancouver Police Department said in a news release published Oct. 5.
A search of the vehicle turned up evidence connected to a theft from an open house held earlier that day in Vancouver. The theft had not been reported to police.
Police also found evidence they believe is connected to other fraud and break-and-enter investigations.
“The recovered property and seized evidence are being examined by investigators,” Sgt. Adam Donaldson said in the release. “We are working to identify additional victims and determine whether the suspects are linked to other ongoing investigations.”
Two men were arrested and later released pending further investigation. No charges had been approved as of the Oct. 5 release.
Police did not disclose the location of the open house and have not said why the theft went unreported.
Anyone who believes they were the victim of a similar crime, or who has information, is asked to contact the Vancouver Police Department.
